Interactions Does Smarter Travel Personalised Travel Planning June 8th

We are really excited to have kicked off our Smarter Travel project for South Dublin County Council. This will run over the summer for 12 weeks where we will be visiting 4000 households in the area. Our specially trained team of Travel Advisors will have to hand lots of information on travel options, and will encourage people to try out different modes, offering them incentives to get them started and challenging them to make a change. South Dublin County Council will be holding lots of community events and residents can join in local challenges such as logging their ‘sustainable’ journeys, using a pedometer to record their steps and winning vouchers.

Personalised Travel Planning (PTP) has proved successful in many towns in the UK and this is the first time it has been conducted in Ireland, (following a pilot in Adamstown in 2010).

SDCC says: ‘Whether it is a trip to the shops or your daily commute, there are many ways to make your travel easy, enjoyable and sustainable’. Travel Smart Communities is being delivered by South Dublin County Council, with the support of the National Transport Authority. The programme will be evaluated in the autumn when comparisons will be made with a baseline travel survey conducted in March.

Here you can see our team of Travel Advisors during their induction days at our new office A1 in Bawnogue, Clondakin – our base for this project.
